Why It Just Felt Right to Do a Brand Refresh

A woman looks at a brand inspiration board on a wall with another woman and the title across the image is "Why It Just Felt Right to Do a Brand Refresh"

I’m all about intentional design. The kind that makes people feel something, that tells your story, draws people in, and grows with you. So when I realized my own brand wasn’t completely doing that anymore, I realized it was time for a refresh.

It’s not a total rebrand, because the heart and soul are still the same. But a freshen up? For sure. We’ve shifted how we’re showing up, both visually and strategically, and I want to let you in on why.

Services, Strategy, and the Shift

Over the last couple of years, my work has evolved and so has my team. I’m no longer just designing beautiful brands and websites (though I still love doing that). I’m jumping into the trenches with my clients, helping them build intentional, strategic businesses from the ground up. That kind of growth deserves a visual identity and messaging that actually reflects it.

And of course, once we started tweaking one thing, it became clear we needed to rearrange a lot more. You know how when you move a couch and suddenly realize the rug, the coffee table, and the art on the wall also need to shift? Yeah. Like that.

The Visual Vibe: Then vs. Now

My old branding served me well for years, but it started to feel like it belonged to a past version of me. While some of the changes are small, those small details make all the difference. The colors weren’t meshing with me anymore, the overall feel was starting to feel dated, the messaging didn’t reflect my team and the photos… whew. I mean, they were about five years old, taken during my shaved head era, and while they were strong, they didn’t feel like me anymore.

This refresh brings more softness, more soul, and more alignment with who I and KHD is now: confident but approachable, expert but down-to-earth, kind and fun. It’s more colorful in the right ways, cleaner in the ways that matter, and so much more us.

We’re Evolving Together

One of the coolest things about my job is that I get to grow alongside my clients. As their businesses evolve, I get a front row seat to the pivots, the glow-ups, and the reinventions. It’s so dang inspiring and it’s made me realize how important it is to let our brands reflect who we are, not just who we were.

That means checking in, refreshing what’s not working, and making intentional changes when it’s time. My clients are doing it. I’m doing it. Maybe you are too?

Launching on My Re-Birthday

This part gets personal. April 27th marks the anniversary of the day I survived a near-fatal motorcycle accident, I consider it my “re-birthday.”

It’s a day that changed everything but especially my perspective, and every year it reminds me how wildly precious this life is. So when we started planning this rebranding and when to launch, I realized we could launch on April 27th, it just felt… right. Like it was meant to be.

This refresh is a celebration of growth, evolution, and being here to keep showing up. To keep building something beautiful. To keep helping others do the same. And why not do it, on a day that completely changed me.

The New Stuff

If you are a regular reader here, you may have already noticed the changes. In case you wanted a truly good idea on what we changed, you can see some of our mockups here:

This refresh isn’t about chasing trends or being flashy for the sake of it. It’s about staying aligned, staying intentional, and making sure that what you see on the outside matches the heart of what’s happening on the inside.

Thank you for growing with me. I’m so excited to invite you into this new chapter.

Let’s Go,
