The new owners to a local San Diego bar came to me to get a new logo. They wanted it updated because they were renaming the bar, however they also wanted to keep some aspects of the old one. Yet they had some ideas on how to totally change it – I always like a challenge!
This local bar has been around forever. It’s one of those places that provide a place to hang out and just be you, no uppidy nonsense, drink beer at a good price and hang out with good friends.
As mentioned they had a couple of ideas. One was of different types of walls being displayed with a hole, another was that they were considering showing greeneries because the bar has a hidden lush garden in the back of the building.
The bar is also rugged, rustic and simple so… I tried a different route. A dot or hole as the base, with a rustic font, to give it an edge yet keeps it simple. I did also created a few samples with more visual holes in the wall but it turned out to be too much detail. We decided on the simple one with a bit of an edge. I think it looks great and it will be a great foundation for their new bar.
