Build Today approached us for website design and brand development. Jonathan Parnell, the genius behind the brand, gave us a clear idea of his goals for the brand in our discovery. This brand was/is amazing to work with, with an incredible vision and focus on making a heart-centered greater impact on the world through technology.

Scope of project

Challenge

The challenge for Build Today was translating the genius brain talk into normal folk content so it is easier to digest. Not to mention achieving a visual identity that matched these guys, who are sharp as all get out. This was something we clearly wanted to showcase with their brand while articulating that Build Today is a definitive and speedy brand that is filled with expertise. They have dealt with major clients already that are in love with these exact values. Our job was to make sure that any new client found these standards clear and ideal.

Outcome

Based on our talks we decided to keep a professional, efficient feel to Build Today. Branding materials were focused on a straight-forward, no fuss feel to present the speed and agile abilities of the business. Coming together, we pulled together a few different options with different color palettes. Ultimately, our choices wanted to present a strong, fast, energy (muted orange) combined with a deep charcoal tone that exhibits the ultimate professionalism of the company. And finally a logo that completed the no-fuss but complete work attitude.

Morton Financial Advice

Financial Planning for Active Folks

Michael Morton CFP of Morton Financial Advice approached us looking for a dynamic website design and development as well as a rebrand. He wanted to differentiate himself from other financial advisors through various ways from transparent pricing, caring about the lives of his clients as well as offering numerous ways for his clients to learn more about their finances.

Challenge

Morton Financial Advice challenged us with a clear cut idea of what he wanted to accomplish in the next ten years as well as what he wanted out of a new website. He wanted his rebrand to accentuate who he is and his own values, energetic, compassionate, educational and outdoorsy. Based on his likes and values, this translated into rustic, modern and warm. Michael has a clear goal of growing his business with more advisors in the near future which presents the challenge of truthfully showing the world it is currently only Michael while keeping the website open to the future additions.

Outcome

After talking with Michael, we got to work on a transparent, clear, concise website and brand design that would capture his caring and warm attitude. He wanted to express that his values align with his ideal clients in that he looked for someone to care about his finances not babysit them while allowing for a freedom in life to truly live it. We wanted a rustic, outdoorsy feel that still attracted his technology clients. The website came together with videos that captured all of his interests which only emphasized the brand values. We found our color palette and logo truly display all of the values Morton holds while attracting his ideal client.

Northern Lights

Financial advice for generations

We worked with Martin Lundgren of Northern Lights a Swedish Financial Advisor as their brand development consultant and brand consulting and design agency. Martin is highly technical and does his best work in complicated situations. Having a Swedish owner ourselves, we were very excited to work with a fellow Swede and let Northern Lights’ Swedish influences shine through. We did this by creating minimalistic visual identity pieces, website development and website design services, as well as other digital and printed marketing assets.

Challenge

Our mission as Northern Lights’ brand creator was to show Martin’s ability to deal with complex situations in a simple manner by staying very minimalistic and true to the Swedish Scandinavian influences we know and love. Our challenge with personal branding for financial advisors like Martin was to create and launch a successful stand-out brand during the pandemic! Because of this challenge we also had quite a few conversations about nailing down his target audience (a key piece during any branding project, but especially in an unprecedented economic environment).

Outcome

In the end, we came out with an elegant brand with an edge that I think would make any Swede proud. Northern Lights launched without a hitch, even within such a challenging year, and continues to solve complicated financial situations for their clients with a minimalistic financial website design and financial advisor branding.

WealthBuilders

Building you wealth from experience

We worked with Eric Rodriguez CFP®️, the financial advisor behind WealthBuilders, as his brand development consultant and strategist. We provided visual identity pieces such as logo variations, fonts and colors, website development and WordPress design services, as well as other collateral pieces such as his lead magnet, sales deck and proposal. Creating a cohesive experience is important, and then of course, it doesn’t hurt to look and feel great no matter the touch point too.

Challenge

The challenge that we took on with WealthBuilders was how to appropriately position his brand while clearly portraying Eric’s style and unique approach because of his background in the tech/sales industry and the experience he had then dealing with financials. It’s important to visually portray who a person is and what it’s like to work with them behind the scenes, so our mission was to make Eric’s values, drive and knowledge be presented in a way that he deserves and open him up for new opportunities.

Outcome

After working with us, Eric went out like a whirlwind to reach out to his community, excited to share his work/platform to serve his audience. He returned for additional creative brand solutions and website design services for his site as well as his podcast “Avocado Toast” which he co-hosts. Since then, he has been featured in Yahoo Finance, MarketWatch, Markets Insider, and Morningstar. Several of which are opportunities we hoped would be available to him after working with us.

Not your regular business law firm

We worked with Mari and Christian, the managing partners of HK Law, as their brand creator and brand strategy consultant, we had the opportunity to show the world their vastly different approach to lawyering and commitment to doing what is right for their clients. We did this by letting that approach shine brightly. We provided visual identity pieces such as logo variations, fonts and colors, WordPress design services and website development, as well as other digital and printed marketing assets such as letterhead, business cards, and more.

Challenge

As always with our approach, the first shoes we had to fill was of a brand positioning consultant, we clarified HK Law’s brand position and the customers they serve. Next, our focus was on how to appropriately showcase their absolutely fantastic approach to lawyering and business in a humble way. Personal branding for lawyers can be a challenge because there are more rules that go into what you can say and put on a site, but for us, that’s what made it all the more exciting. Especially when we realized just how much they genuinely care about doing the right thing by their clients and making the world a better place.

Outcome

Branding for law firms is something that can really set a firm apart. After working with us, Mari had to say that the value they received from their project went far beyond website design services. She said that our process challenged them to dig deep and identify who they are and how they show themselves to the world.

Carmanah

Presently Exploring the World

We worked with Erika and Sean, the founders behind an adventure blog called Carmanah, as their brand development consultant and brand creator. With that came the opportunity to design visual identity pieces, offer WordPress consulting services and WordPress web design, as well as other digital and printed marketing assets, to match their needs as influencers, that differed slightly from our typical small business offerings.

Challenge

If you ask me, Erika and Sean are the couple who has done life right, by creating a lifestyle where they are able to travel around the world by sea. They are down to earth and very genuine people who also want to provide a worldly-wise education for their children. Our challenge in defining their personal brand identity, was how to position their brand by creating an appealing visual identity that people would not only want to follow and engage with, but that would set them up for potential growth, and to possibly sell merchandise in the future too.

Outcome

As result of working with us, Carmanah now has a brand that embodies world travel and encourages others to see the world as well. Being their creative brand consultant, this project was not only fun and inspiring to work on, but was a treat to hear that they literally set sail to live and embody their brand as soon as the project was finished. If that’s not something to aspire to, we don’t know what is.

Golf Rules and Etiquette with Girlfriends

We worked with Marcela Smith, the Founder of Girlfriend’s Guide to Golf as her brand strategy consultant, to clarify her brand position, showcase who Marcela really is, and give her a platform where she could connect with her audience, offer services, and grow her following. We did this by taking her personal brand identity and reimagining it through professional personal branding services. We began by providing a brand strategy, and then followed up with visual identity pieces, website design services, website development, and digital and printed marketing assets.

Challenge

The challenge presented to us with this project was to clarify Marcela’s brand’s position, so that it would show up online as vibrant, beautiful and fun, which is equivalent to who she is in real life. Yet we also wanted to keep her brand and website simple. Our main focuses were to make her site easy to navigate and use, as well as define the audience she serves.

Outcome

By designing her personal brand identity to speak for her elegance and fun nature, as well as connect with her target audience, it has given Marcela a platform and stepping stone to offer her services of teaching golf rules, etiquette and style to several golf courses in the San Diego area and beyond. Since this project, Marcela has also been able to partner with several golf athleisure companies as a fashion ambassador!

We worked with Virtual Power Technologies as their brand consulting and design company to make nerdy energy guys look sexy (their words, not ours 😉 ) to attract the masses to something that is essential for our planet and for us to live on it. With that came the opportunity to create a clean logo, provide minimalistic website design services, and create equally clean and minimalistic marketing materials that support Virtual Power as the forward thinking and heart-centered company that they are.

With Virtual Power Technologies, the challenge we faced as their brand development consultant was around messaging and copy for their website, and other brand materials and marketing assets. We needed to clarify their brand position and the customers they serve, but the trickiest part was figuring out how to make extremely technical and complicated concepts easy to take in and comprehend.

Outcome

Virtual Power Technologies is out to make a greater impact, to change the way we look at energy and how we take care of our planet. They are technologically forward-thinking, they push boundaries, they think with their hearts, and they are outliers because it’s the right thing to do, not the easy thing to do. The best part is, after working with us as their brand creator and brand consulting agency, they now have a brand that reflects that.

Flow Financial

Cultivate Financial Strength

We worked with Meg from Flow Financial Planning as her brand creator and digital brand consulting agency. With that came the opportunity to help her identify her target audience and provide visual identity pieces, as well as website design services and website development. We also provided other digital and printed marketing assets; exciting things like creating a client agreement that is actually fun to read through and sign! As well as standards like business cards, lead magnets, and more. Our mission was to give her a platform where she could truly be herself, and build a company that gives financial advice in a different way for women in tech.

With Flow the challenge came when we decided to ask the question if finances and building a strong financial future could be fun. Meg is a financial advisor who is witty, keeps it real, and is very straightforward (everything but your everyday advisor). As her brand strategy consultant, we knew we could use her personality as an advantage, so our challenge was to narrow down her niche, clarify her brand position, and then address how we could push the envelope in that specific market.

Outcome

Meg gave us full freedom to explore totally different approaches to financial web design and the standard documents in the financial world (that might be slightly dry). The outcome being that they are now a delight to read through! Flow’s visual identity is happy and energetic, and has stood out from the crowd in such a positive way that it was called out on stage by the founder of XY Planning Network at the FPA Puget Sound Symposium as a fantastic example of a modern financial advisor’s website.
